डीलक्स सैलून — Deluxe Saloon: 90s Hindi songs, playing live
एक नाई की दुकान का रेडियो
A barbershop radio, running live
Walk into any barbershop in a small Indian town and there is a radio or a phone on a speaker going all day, and it lands on roughly the same thirty songs. Get into a truck at the Delhi–Jaipur toll at midnight and it is the same thirty songs, turned up. This station is that rotation, played out in full and kept honest to the hour it actually is in India.
The catalogue runs from Chitthi Aayi Hai — the 1986 Pankaj Udhas record every one of these playlists descends from — through the Nadeem-Shravan and Kumar Sanu years that made cassette shops rich, out to the end of the decade at Chaiyya Chaiyya. Four rotations, and the one playing now depends on what time it is in Kolkata.
Everything plays through YouTube, so the artists and labels are paid the same as any other view. Every track links out to Spotify and YouTube Music if you want to keep it.
